SoCal Tennis Roundup: Monday's Top Developments

LA College Tennis Recap

A dramatic NCAA week for Los Angeles’ college tennis teams turned heads citywide. UCLA’s women fell 4-1 to Long Beach State in the Big West Championship opener, with standout freshman Yen Nhi showing real promise for the future. Across town, the 44th-ranked UC Irvine men capped a stellar season—winning their second straight Big West Championship and finishing 18-6, their best mark in a decade, before bowing out to San Diego in the NCAA first round.

“It was an incredible season for our guys, and we’re proud of the growth we’ve shown. LA tennis is in good hands.”

For how local rivalries like UCLA vs. USC are fueling community play and inspiring new waves of LA tennis talent, see our feature here.

Team Key Result Season Record

All levels are welcome, with both doubles and Live Ball formats featured for maximum community engagement. Registration starts at $95 for members and $125 for non-members, with prices increasing after May 21.

“The LA Tennis Club is simply iconic. There’s no place like it to compete, connect, and soak up LA tennis culture.”

Where to Play: LA’s Outdoor Courts by Neighborhood

Court time is at a premium in Los Angeles, especially with near-perfect playing weather citywide. Griffith Park remains the city’s largest and most popular tennis hub, with over two dozen recently resurfaced public courts. Venice Beach courts offer ocean breezes and an unmatched social scene, while Westwood’s Stoner Park courts draw local students for affordable, accessible play. True indoor tennis courts remain virtually nonexistent in LA; most "indoor" offerings are either covered but not truly sealed or are reserved for private clubs with steep fees.

Neighborhood Facility Courts Surface Fee/Availability
Griffith Park Griffith Park Tennis Center 26 Hard $8/hr, usually available mornings; busy weekends
Venice Beach Venice Beach Recreation Center 6 Hard $7/hr, walk-up or reservation
Westwood Stoner Park Tennis Courts 8 Hard Free or small fee, easier midday access

Trusted by our community

In the short time I've used Doyouplay. I've set up more play dates than with the previous paid apps I'd used previously. The site is intuitive and easy to navigate. The community is super positive and supportive. It's now my go to matchmaking Tennis site.

The site is so easy to navigate and everyone on the site itself is awesome. I haven't had any other success on any other tennis apps and if you're in LA, this is basically the only one to be on if you want to find reliable and quality hitting partners.

After moving to LA, I struggled to find tennis partners, but this website made it so I was playing with new people every week. The website's user-friendly platform helped me connect with other players, find courts, book sessions, and meet new tennis friends. It's been a game-changer for someone like me where I was able to find a consistent group of people around my level to play tennis with!
