Court Showdowns: SCIAC Finals, Spring Tournaments Heat Up LA Tennis Scene

Saturday's Biggest Stories

SCIAC Men's Tennis Tournament Crowns Champion Today

The 2025 SCIAC Men's Tennis Tournament concludes today as championship matches determine this season's conference winner. After intense semifinal action that began on Thursday, May 1, the final showdown takes place this afternoon at championship courts across Los Angeles.

Back by popular demand, join us on Thursday, May 22nd at Los Angeles Tennis Club for a FUN afternoon of friendly competition at ACG Los Angeles' Spring Tennis Tournament! ALL levels are welcome.

Tournament play has showcased the depth of collegiate tennis talent across Southern California, with programs battling for NCAA tournament positioning and conference bragging rights. The championship matches feature tactical baseline play and doubles strategy that recreational players across LA have been emulating at public courts.

ACG Los Angeles Gears Up for Spring Tennis Tournament

Tennis enthusiasts looking for competitive play beyond the collegiate scene can mark their calendars for the ACG Los Angeles 2025 Spring Tennis Tournament. Set for May 22nd from 1 PM to 5 PM PDT at the LA Tennis Club on Clinton Street, this popular event welcomes players of all skill levels.

The tournament features a doubles format with an exciting alternative for those not playing doubles - Live Ball rotation sessions with tennis professionals. Registration is currently open with member pricing at $95 and non-member at $125, with prices increasing by $20 starting May 21st.

Junior Development Pathways Flourish at Southern California Academies

This weekend also features important junior development opportunities, with the WAC Tennis Academy Spring tournament running May 3-4. The Level 7 junior event serves as a critical development pathway for young players across Los Angeles.

To receive any quota wild card, players must not have 5 or more suspension points on their record due to conduct starting on January 1, 2022 until the time wild cards are awarded.

USTA Southern California continues to provide comprehensive tournament structures for junior players, with clear pathways to competition and development. Parents seeking information on junior tournaments can find complete tournament listings through USTA Southern California's junior tournament portal.

Collegiate Tennis Continues to Energize Local Play

USC's men's tennis program demonstrated its strength earlier this year with a commanding 6-0 victory over San Diego State at the David X. Marks Tennis Stadium in Los Angeles. The Trojans' success continues to inspire recreational players across Los Angeles public courts, where college-style drills and tactics are increasingly popular among weekend warriors.

The 2025 collegiate tennis schedule features prominent Los Angeles programs competing at both home and away venues, creating opportunities for tennis fans to witness high-level competition throughout the season.

Weekend Court Conditions Across Los Angeles

Los Angeles tennis courts are experiencing ideal playing conditions this weekend with comfortable temperatures and minimal wind. Popular public courts at Griffith Park report full bookings through midday, while Venice Beach courts offer availability for afternoon play with ocean breezes providing natural cooling.

Echo Park courts have recovered well from recent maintenance, with all six courts now open for play. Court conditions across the city remain excellent following the mild spring, with minimal cracking reported at most public facilities.

Neighborhood Court Highlights

  • Griffith Park: All courts open, busy morning sessions with afternoon availability

The site is so easy to navigate and everyone on the site itself is awesome. I haven't had any other success on any other tennis apps and if you're in LA, this is basically the only one to be on if you want to find reliable and quality hitting partners.
